  The Famous black inventor and scientist Lonnie G. Johnson invented the Super Soaker in 1989. Most children and their families have countless memories and hours of fun because of the Super Soaker and a hot summer day filled with water and hours of fun!

  A nomination for astronaut training
  More than 40 patents
  Most famous for a squirt gun!

  Johnson is best known for his Super Soaker.

  As Johnson worked from home to conduct an experiment testing a heat pump that used water instead of Freon it shot a stream of water across his bathroom and into the tub. An idea was born! The Super Soaker.
